Study Day

Beethoven Symphony No 6 in F Major Op 68 ‘Pastoral’ – Saturday 22 September 2018 9.30am – 4.30pm

Victoria Hall, Main Street, Grange-over-Sands, LA11 6DP

If you want more information on the venue click here.

“Beethoven loved nature and often spent time in the countryside.  It’s no surprise then that he wrote this amazing evocation of Nature which is known as the Pastoral Symphony.  It has everything you would expect; from the arrival in the countryside to a scene by a brook, a merry gathering of country folk, the inevitable storm and finally shepherds feeling cheerful and thankful after the storm.  As with all Beethoven’s music, we are taken on an emotional rollercoaster ride. Every human feeling is touched, every dramatic ounce (or gram if you’re younger than me) is wrung from the players.  So, there’s the challenge!  Come and join me on this amazing journey with Westmorland Orchestra – all are welcome – and there’s usually cake…”
Richard Howarth – Music Director

Tea and coffee will be provided at the breaks and at lunchtime but you will need to bring a packed lunch or use the many local cafes.  You will need a music stand (please put your name on it) and you may find a stand light useful.  You are welcome to invite friends/relatives along for the play through at the end of the day.  The day is free to those under 18 but we ask for a donation from everyone else.
